Many thanks for the suggestions both. As you will see from my Sig, I
am running on a NAS and using two Receivers - which are capable of
running WMA and MP3 natively, and as I am in the UK I have access to all
iPlayer streams.

Nothing on the NAS or in my network changed, just one day it was
working and the next it wasn't. The symptom was simply that I would
select a program and press the play button, it would click but nothing
would happen. Just occasionally it would pop up with a "could not
connect" error message but most of the time it just sat there. Doing
this on the web interface showed that it was selecting the program and
it would show up on the now-playing screen. It would start counting up
to about 10 seconds then stop and reset to zero.

I left it a day or two to see if it was a temporary glitch, but it did
not rectify itself so I assume that for some reason the MP3 streams are
no longer configured in a way that v0.7 can interpret.

When I reinstalled 0.9 the system decided to use the WMA streams, but
was coming up with the 'failure to connect' error message. So I went
into the settings and unticked AAC and WMA, leaving just the MP3 box
ticked.

The streams are now working again (phew!). Interestingly there is no
information on the 'now playing' web interface screen about what format
is being used. On v0.7 it woud say something like 'MP3 128...'. Where
that text was in v0.7 is now just has a zero character in v0.9. The
information is there with the WMA streams (that won't connect).

Anyway at least I don't have to install 7.4.1 which is a relief as
everything else is working and if it ain't broke I don't want to fix it!
I don't have the fast forward or rewind, but I can live with that.
After all I don't have that with live radio either.

No doubt at some point I will no longer be able to use iPlayer with
7.3.3, and I will have to install 7.4.x. But I will put off the evil
day as long as I can.
