I, too, have blown away playlists accidentally by touching album artwork. I think the best solution would be to make this an iPeng setting. Default setting: touch album artwork clears the playlist and plays the album. Turning off this setting: touch album artwork displays album tracks. Those of us with fumble fingers will be much happier with this setup.
