Pippin, I have the same issue when I upgraded to 1.2.5. I use the irblaster plugin to adjust the volume on my receiver. I volume output on the sb3 is set to "Outout level is fixed at 100%" so I think this is reason the volume slider in iPeng is visible but not adjustable. In the prior vesion I could still use the volume adjustmet with the fixed output on the SB3. Great app.
