I think they are used in the browse menus but they are not used on the
Now Playing screen unless you have replaced the Now Playing screen with
third party Custom Clock applet.

If you develop a new title format plugin for SBS, I think you should be
able to use the Custom Clock applet on SqueezePlay and the Custom Clock
Helper plugin in SBS to distribute the title formats to a custom Now
Playing screen designed using Custom Clock.
