Do you use WOL or does the server react simply on network traffic. If you use WOL, you could enable manual WOL and then iPeng gives you a power button to switch on the server.
It doesn't really work to not wake up the server if you are not connected to it since it's somewhat in the nature of a sleeping server that you are not connected to it. Even being connected to MySB would not be a good indicator because how would you ever wake up the server when being on MySB if WOL was disabled then.
