Now with the Spotify artist radio (not Pandora, which uses the same artwork) the missing artwork makes iPeng run into a bug that causes the crash. Technically, the bug causing the crash has always been there but it only triggers when also the artwork for the icon is missing. iPeng then tries to check the icon provided by the server.
