Ok, that makes sense, I think I understand now. I did not see where the xplay came from and did not realise that was the URL that would be entered. I might be able to hack something using this knowledge.

Yes, that is true, but unless Apple supports DASH, they are too big a market to disable HLS. Thanks for your replies.
