I was trying this at the same time as you but seem to be failing at the installing ffmpeg.exe into the LMS Bin directory (in my case C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread) do you simply place the exectuable here or is there some other way of installing it? I can see the file types in Advanced File types but the streams play in silent mode.
