Agree, it's too loud, something's changed. Previously (I've not used the CCA for a couple of weeks) I used to set the volume on the Chromecast app on my phone to about 70% on the slider, and then control the volume using the Squeeze Ctrl app on my phone, this gave a usable volume range comparable to my SBT and a Raspi connected to the same DAC. Now the LMS volume control seems to control the volume slider on the Chromecast app. on a scale 0-100 on the webgui, 5 is background music, anything above 15 is getting too loud.
