Ok the new dev version has half cure the standby issue. If track paused and unit then put in standby nothing now plays which is good, however if device is put in standby whilst still playing it, lms plays next track and device powers back up. I changed the uncompressed format to RAW as suggested and played standard 44.1khz 16bit flac. It now appears to play in the gui but gives no sound. The 96khz 24bit plays as it did before. I had a look at the logs and it appears to be transcoding to mp3 not pcm for it through so maybe that explains why its always worked, but why does this transcode to mp3 and not pcm?
