Simple is beautiful! I would like to take charge of the redesign of the admin app if you also agree to the last choice. I think the testsuite framework is a good example.

[ ] Roll our own framework for the admin portlet. Why not?
[ ] Utilize a simple controller portlet. Simplicity is best!
