We spend more than a trillion dollars annually, more than all the other
countries of the world combined - on defense.
We have bases in so many countries that our military footprint is several
orders of magnitude larger than all the rest; than any other country. AND,
once we are there, we do not leave. So why should the Iraqis expect it
would be any different in Iraq. Getting out doesn't mean getting out; it
means reducing present troops and redeploying them to the bases - some of
which are in adjacent countries, and many new installations in Iraq.
.. Is this what you want your taxes paying for? NOT that you have much of
a choice. Protest too much and you may find yourself living in one of
those new detention centers they're building and plan to move dissidents
to after Martial Law and after elections are called off with in 2008.
