Progressive News & Views (since 1982)

It is probably a waste of time to post this again. Few on the InterNUT
care about the seriousness of anything and this is just another diversion
for them. To some of us, it is a bit more than that.
I don't much care for, nor have the time to listen to people who just come
together to vent. That is not what the pnews forums have been about for
over 20 years. Unfortunately most people feel powerless and coming
together to vent is exactly what they do on the InterNUT. It is all too
often garbage in/garbage out. It is white noise and spam.
I want to get from this forum (and the net) something which is worthwhile
to me. I want to get information - not just perspectives, but proof of
those views. When Charles says religion is slavery that doesn't do it for
me. I know religion is enslaving, but it doesn't compare to the physical
abuse of slavery which is being conducted by human beings against each
other right now in some places on this planet. I am less interested in the
philosophy and anthropology than I am in the activisim and the progressive
contributions I can make and you too can make -- and hopefully this forum
can help with that.
In order to raise the level of discourse here, I ask that you TRY to
substantiate your data whenever possible in order to better qualify the
information as reliable, meaningful and true - and try to make this
conference a more valuable experience. I am probably asking for too much
but at least that should be the endeavor. That's all.
One more comment: Discussion is not something which happens very often on
the InterNUT. The very nature of the net encourages trolls and spam and
puff pieces. The InterNUT is a place to often to vent and puff up ego.
This list is not about any of that. This is a conference for truth and
respect. There is no single "line of march" and no "vanguard" to impose
ideas. It is about DIRSHU MISHPAT, which in Hebrew means to "seeking the
truth."
