I cannot retest font substitution at the moment, so I cannot reproduce this
right now. I did some changes regarding variable initializations in that
code, but I assume that should not break something. Still, this could be
the first hint, when analyzing this issue.
During feature freeze, we should only fix critical / high relevance issue
and we should include only fixes with low risk of breaking something else.
I assume that the fixes for font substitution should be very local and are
of high relevance, so they would most likely qualify for inclusion during
freeze.
