It may be worth pointing out that this should be (and I’m guessing in your mind already is) a somewhat long-term decision: Switching from some pdfmm::span type to std::span, even if they are functionally identical, would break ABI stability. Not that I personally would have a problem with that, but as briefly discussed recently, breaking ABI stability should be an informed decision and probably be accompanied by a corresponding version number change.
