I agree with Rocco, that there are a number of ways to solve my particular problem. However, I believe there should be a general "Here's how to manage getting user information to POE children with a Tk GUI" example in the cookbook, since I expect that there are a lot of other scenarios that this would be appropriate for. Given that, is my latest (non-working) solution a good base to build the cookbook example from, or should it be re-designed? The existing design makes sense to me, but I can't seem to get it to work as expected. Am I totally off base here or is it just some minor stupid thing that I just can't see? Depending on your security policy, the parent may be able to cache the passphrase and reuse it for multiple machines.
