> When hacking at Polipo, please recall that: Unless anyone is able to suggest other packages...
I think Polipo is fairly unique in being both a lightweight 1) PROXY/CONNECT <-> SOCKS5 converter 2) cache Privoxy does 1, but not 2. It also munges headers/data and urls, which can be disabled if not needed. Squid might(?) do both, but it is pretty heavy. If socat was enhanced, it could someday easily serve as 1. And someone still needs to make an open source tool that would de-TLS, pass the traffic off to a cache/filter/munger, and then re-TLS. Breaking the cert chain is understood to be a feature for this as both the 'de' and 're' cert parts can then be variously validated, watched for, supplied, and logged at both ends of the tool and at the browser. To the extent this note might spur ideas for future work. Shims are always nice to have :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keep Your Developer Skills Current with LearnDevNow!
