MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Police arrested a 65-year-old Manitowoc man last week
on a charge of child rape following an indictment by the Rutherford County
Grand Jury.

Gary Tuschl was arrested and extradited to Murfreesboro, according to a
report filed by Murfreesboro Police Detective Tommy Roberts.

In his report, Roberts said the alleged abuse occurred in 2005, around
Christmas, and involved a girl who was then 7 years old. At the time,
Tuschl was visiting Murfreesboro. Roberts was notified by the state
Department of Children's Services earlier this year, the report said.

"I received a DCS referral regarding the possible sex abuse back in 2005.
Janiece Miller, DCS investigator, and I began an investigation," Roberts
wrote, adding that the victim was interviewed March 26 at the Child
Advocacy Center and made "credible disclosures."

The victim said that Tuschl molested her on the sofa, Roberts wrote.

The detective later arranged for Tuschl to be interviewed by the Manitowoc
Police Department. Manitowoc Police Detective Dave Vorpahl interviewed
Tuschl on April 21, the report said.

"Mr. Tuschl confessed to molesting the victim while visiting Murfreesboro,"
Roberts wrote.

Roberts presented the evidence in June to the Grand Jury , which determined
there was enough evidence for an arrest.

Tuschl was placed in custody in Wisconsin and brought back to Murfreesboro,
where Roberts interviewed him and served the indictment.

Tuschl is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on
$100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Rutherford County Circuit Court
at 9 a.m. July 14.
