It's pretty clear that Bill De Blasio, the Mayor of New York City, is a cop-hating commie. That his father was also a panty-waist leftist is not well known. Partly, this is because Bill De Blasio has changed his name twice, obscuring his past. But, while the establishment media plays Steppin Fetchit to the progressive socialists, the amateur sleuths of the internet ferret out the real dope. Bill De Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm, Jr. As a young man, in 1983, he legally changed his name to Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm. In 2001, he legally completed his name change. He had already been representing himself as "Bill De Blasio" for some time, although continuing to sign documents as "Warren De Blasio-Wilhelm." NYDailyNews De Blasio says that, following his parents divorce, his father was essentially absent from his life, and he chose to identify with his Italian-American mother and her family. Also, he says, the hyphenated name was awkward. More recently, De Blasio says he has developed some sympathy for his father, whose downward spiral into alcoholism may have begun during WWII, during which he saw combat during the Battle of Okinawa. In a radio interview, in 2012, he confessed, "I think honestly, as we now know about veterans who return, (he) was going through physically and mentally a lot." Having to fight in WWII might have been quite tough for Wilhelm, Sr., as he supported appeasement of fascist dictators, rather than confrontation. In a debate at Yale University, Wilhelm, Sr., support the partition of Czechoslovakia, rather than support for the defense of that country. At the time, the panty-waists thought it impossible for the western powers to oppose Hitler, and dismissed the ability of Czechoslovakia to defend itself. In their fear and cowardice, they exaggerated the military strength of Nazi Germany - still severely limited by reason of the Treaty of Versailles. But, the Munich Agreement did more than hand the so-called Sudetenland over to Germany, it emboldened Hitler to ignore the Treaty of Versailles and commence to rebuild Germany's military capability without restraint. Real Americans, on the other hand, are able to do what needs to be done when it comes to evil in the world, whether that evil is fascism, or communism, or radical Islam. We are sorry that Bill De Blasio's dad succumbed to the devastating impact that war can have even on those who survive.
