Barack Obama has led the way in granting and promoting Muslim privilege. Others have followed. It is high time it stops. “White privilege” is all the rage these days -- or rather the rage against purported “white privilege.” But what of Muslim privilege that we have seen for years, perversely most often after murders committed in the name of Islam? Islam is a supremacist religious creed that denigrates all other religions. Now others seem to agree, or are certainly acting in ways that show sympathy for that point of view. It starts at the top. Barack Obama has used the powers of his office to protect and promote Islam. Examples abound: Early in his presidency he delivered a speech to the “Muslim world” in Cairo at Al-Azhar, a center of Islamic learning-filled with fictions about the debt the West owes to Muslims through the centuries (suitably, it was written by Ben Rhodes <http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22588.html>, a failed short-story writer/political hack who now runs most of our foreign policy -- into the ground <http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2009/06/assessing-obamas-cairo-speech>). This list of purported accomplishments includes inventions created by Chinese, Indians and others. A former supporter of his, Martin Peretz <http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/02/25/barack-obama-s-cairo-speech-and-his-israel-problem.html>wrote that it was such a: shoddy and slippery job, historically so misleading on so many matters that one can hardly attribute it to innocent error. Granted, some of this had to do with the president’s own ignorant romanticization of Islam and the Arabs. Some of it was sheer invention, like his treatment of U.S. diplomacy during the late-18th- and early-19th-century Barbary Wars as a prelude to a long-term peace between Muslim principalities and America and his taking on for the American people sins against Muslims, like prohibiting the wearing of the hijab, which are actually not issues in the U.S. Largely, the speech could have been not an oration but an indictment of the United State before the International Court of Justice. Does the Internal Revenue Service really discriminate against Islamic charities, as he claimed? No it doesn’t discriminate against Muslims, it discriminates against Republican, Tea Party and pro-Israel Jewish groups <http://www.politico.com/story/2013/05/israel-related-groups-also-pointed-to-irs-scrutiny-91298.html>. The Cairo speech was an exercise in promotion of Islam never before seen on the world stage, courtesy of the leader of the formerly free world. That was just a warm up for much of what was to come. There were Orwellian language changes. Islamic terrorism became man-caused disasters <http://www.foxnews.com/story/2009/03/17/terrorism-is-man-caused-disaster/>; Islamic terror attacks became acts of workplace violence <http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/09/27/critics-blast-authorities-for-treating-oklahoma-beheading-as-case-workplace/> -- repeatedly <http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/12/06/military-growing-terrorist-target-lawmakers-warn/>; terrorism was expunged from the Washington vocabulary, replaced by “crime”; and FBI training manuals were made halal by purging reference to Islam <http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2013/04/20/flashback-fbi-training-manual-purged-references-to-islamic-terror/>, Muslim, Muslims -- possibly resulting in loss of life at the Boston Marathon ; mosques became no-go zones for law enforcement <http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2014/04/nypd_drops_surveillance_of_mosques.html>; NASA slashed its budget for exploration and discovery adopted a new mission, outreach not to the starsbut to Muslims <http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/space/7875584/Barack-Obama-Nasa-must-try-to-make-Muslims-feel-good.html> . His overt sympathies and inclination to privilege Muslims have also been shown by his appointments over the years and have been exposed by revealing White House visitor logs <http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/011215-734371-obama-muslim-sympathies-grow-curiouser-and-curiouser.htm?p=full%20.> A corollary of making Muslims feel good by showering them with praise is to shield them from scrutiny and criticism. The *Muslim *Brotherhood is mostly *secular*, says Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper. ISIL is not Islamic, Obama lectures <http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2014/09/10/obama_isil_is_not_islamic.html> (ISIL is an acronym for *Islamic *State of Iraq and the Levant). I am sure the “Soldier of Allah” who murdered Americans at Ft. Hood was just suffering from Tourette Syndrome when he screamed Allah Akbar.” “We have chosen not to use that label [of radical Islam] because it doesn’t seem to accurately describe what happened” says White House spokesman Josh Earnest about the Paris massacre. The White House seems to think its denial of radical Islam will stop people from believing the obvious, writes Jonah Goldberg <http://www.nationalreview.com/node/396474/print>. That is probably because, as I wrote last year, Obama thinks <http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2014/06/obama_thinks_youre_stupid_thats_why.htm.l>, as does Jon Gruber, Americans are stupid The verbal gymnastics White House officials use would dismay George Orwell, who warned against totalitarians using language to hide, if not distort, the truth from people. Obama admitted he had to be a better storyteller <http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2013/09/obama_the_storyteller.html> and he has certainly told some whoppers over the years (a man who would lie about his mother’s death <http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2014/06/obama_thinks_youre_stupid_thats_why.html> will lie about anything). Compare and contrast Obama’s treatment of Muslim terrorists to Republicans, who get called <http://www.businessinsider.com/obama-speech-to-save-tax-deal-2010-12> “bomb throwers” and “hostage –takers.” Similarly, he disdains Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell but calls the vicious anti-Semite, Islamic Turkish Leader Tayyip Erdogan one of his best friends <http://www.todayszaman.com/diplomacy_obama-names-turkeys-erdogan-among-top-five-international-friends_269076.html> . The circumlocutions of Barack Obama and his team members when it comes to identifying out enemies as Islamic are too numerous to list (some are laughable <http://dailycaller.com/2015/01/13/josh-earnest-not-accurate-to-call-paris-terrorism-radical-islam-video/>) if they so often did not lead to tragedy. Anyone see a pattern here in this lineup of victims <https://www.facebook.com/nanriley/posts/10201477701921201> and perpetrators Fellow travelers in the media, such as CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, follow Obama’s lead –for instance, when she characterized the Paris murderers (who shouted “Allah Akbar” ) “activists <http://insider.foxnews.com/2015/01/09/greg-gutfeld-takes-media-over-coverage-france-terror-attacks>.” Would an anti-abortion clinic bomber be described as an “activist”? If the perpetrator were Christian, MSNBC would go on a verbal rampage, as would the New York Times, Democrats, and the usual suspects. And, inevitably, the liberal media conveys the propaganda <http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/01/msm_says_judaism_and_christianity_as_violent_as_islam.html> that Judaism and Christianity are as violent as Islam. When people -- including Muslims -- try to tell the truth about radical Islam they are intimidated, threatened and attacked (see this excellent Washington Post column <http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/meet-the-honor-brigade-an-organized-campaign-to-silence-critics-of-islam/2015/01/16/0b002e5a-9aaf-11e4-a7ee-526210d665b4_story.htm> about the so-called Honor Brigade trying to silence them). And, of course, Barack Obama is working to silence any criticism of Muslims. His own spokesman Josh Earnest admitted just days ago that Barack Obama will fight against the right to free speech to shield Islam from criticism <http://dailycaller.com/2015/01/13/white-house-obama-will-fight-media-to-stop-anti-jihad-articles/>. As Barack Obama told the world at the UN General Assmbly, “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam <http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/09/25/remarks-president-un-general-assembly> .” So cartoons that lampoon Islam are harshly criticized and are not reproduced by most in the media. Yet, Jesus on the crucifix can be submerged in a bottle of piss and be acclaimed as a work of art and be widely publicized in those same media outlets <http://newsbusters.org/blogs/eric-scheiner/2015/01/14/msnbcs-maddow-shows-piss-christ-not-latest-charlie-hebdo>. Anti-Semitic cartoons can be republished in the New York Times <http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2015/01/dean-baquet-addresses-nyts-republication-of-antisemitic-200788.html> but not cartoons that mock Mohammed, because, as the executive editor put it, it might offend Muslim readers (Jews don’t matter, apparently). Muslims are a no,* the*privileged class deserving the ditching of the First Amendment. Political correctness has run amok. Yet, liberals obsess over Islamophobia; Muslims are characterized as victims, and this victim status has “purchased” special privileges, including claims <http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/01/the_empathy_epidemic.html> on ourempathy <http://www.nationalreview.com/article/396574/victims-ber-alles-jonah-goldberg>, (the anti-Semitism flourishing in the Muslim world -- that now includes much of Europe and growing areas in America -- gets short shrift). The New York Times reflexively portrays Muslim perpetrators as victims <http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/01/barf_alert_nyt_gets_weepy_over_copkiller_ismaaiyl_brinsley.html> of Western society, people to be pitied. This is perversity squared. Christians beheaded in the Middle East, millions of Christians expelled from Arab nations -- barely worthy of an ounce of ink in the world press. Furthermore, Investor’s Business Daily <http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/022114-690860-obama-immigration-reforms-seem-to-come-with-religious-test.htm> notes that, “Obama’s new asylum decree favors Muslim over Christians: As President Obama offers asylum to "minor" terrorists providing "limited" material support to terrorism, he's slamming shut the door on thousands of Christians fleeing terrorism in Muslim lands like Egypt. In another end-run around Congress, President Obama has unilaterally eased immigration requirements for foreigners linked to terrorism. He ordered the State Department and Homeland Security to ignore a post-9/11 law barring entry to those giving political or charitable aid to Hamas and other known terrorist groups. A dozen years after the horrific attacks on our nation by foreign Islamic terrorists, the Obama administration has decided a little support to foreign Islamic terrorists is OK. (snip) Of course, his move weakens, yet again, America's security. By exempting five kinds of limited material support for terrorism, Obama instantly purges more than 4,000 suspects from the U.S. terror watch list and opens our borders up to both them and their families. Meanwhile, Christians are pushed out of the Middle East, if they are lucky enough not to be killed. They languish overseas while Muslims from lands that are breeding and killing grounds for terrorists flood into America <http://www.nationalreview.com/node/396262/print%20.> during Obama’s presidency Dennis Prager <http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2015/01/13/islam_gets_special_treatment_125233.html> has been among those that believe that Islam gets special treatment: Since 9/11, the Western world's academic, media, political elites have done their best to portray Islam in a favorable light, treating it very differently from all other religions. Criticism of every doctrine, religious or secular, is permitted, often encouraged. But not of Islam. Only positive depictions are allowed. (snip) Western elites bending over backwards on behalf of Muslims and Islam in ways they never would for another religion. (snip) Take one from the Paris murders. Why did the Muslim terrorists go to a Jewish grocery? This is not a riddle. We all know. But some in the media pretended they didn't. During the attack, a reporter for Sky News, one of the largest English-language news services in the world, said on Fox News: "Whether it was targeted specifically for its religious connotations it is difficult to know." Is there one reader of this column who thought it "difficult to know" whether the Muslim terrorists targeted a Jewish grocery? Why would someone presumably intelligent say something so obviously stupid? In order to protect Islam. Just as so many in the media and government did after Major Nidal Hasan's murder of 13 fellow soldiers at Fort Hood. They found it difficult to ascertain if religion was a factor in his murders, despite his yelling, "Allahu Akbar" while shooting, despite his listing himself as a "Soldier of Allah" on his Facebook page, and despite many other affirmations of Islamism. A New York Times writer blamed it on Major Hasan's "snapping" (in an article titled "When Soldiers Snap"). Chris Matthews said "it's unclear if religion was a factor in this shooting." NPR correspondent Tom Gjelten explained that Hasan, though never in combat, may have suffered from "pre-traumatic stress disorder." And the U.S. Department of Defense classified the Fort Hood shootings as acts of "workplace violence," not terror, let alone Islamic terror. Why is Islam privileged above all other religions? Who bears responsibility? Why has criticism of Islam has become a rhetorical no-go zone? Why is militant Islam on the march throughout the world, including America? The march is fueled by privileges granted to no other group. A double-standard is not the American Way. It is past time for Muslims to check their privilege. And it is past time for America’s leaders in politics and the media to stop giving them such privilege.
