I saw the rock band, "The Who", (as in, "Ello, we're da Ooo") at
this same parade field, in 1978. Recently, I saw a special on some
station like Discovery or The Learning Channel, and today, the field
that we are referencing is in total disrepair.

At any rate, your analogy is a good one Lew!!

I was stationed at Ramstein Air Base (the Kaiserslautern area) from
March of 1976 through November, 1979. For the last year and a half,
I lived in Ramstein Village, right next to the Church. There was an
imbiss/guesthaus that was adjacent to my apartment, and I would go
down and frequently drink beer with a number of these older guys, who
fought in WW II......Geez, what I would give, to be able to talk to
these guys now! I was just a 19-20 year old dumbass kid at the time,
with not enough sense to pour crap out of a boot, and I would truly
love to hear their stories today!
