That's entirely possible. But I would think if they were preparing for an anti-Trumb bomb, they'd have continued sampling 6-8% more democrats and left his numbers lower than they are, then made that their false target to show outright defeat (and no reason for his supporters to even bother voting).
Maybe they know an anti-Hillary bomb is about to drop and they're trying to dampen the clear connection to a drop in the polls? I certainly hope so, anyway. But you're right that it's suspicious.
