This is wrong... Therefore, the man deserves my respect, whether I voted for him or not! He deserves all of our respect because he is going to be the next American President! Doesn’t mean I have to like him, doesn’t mean I have to approve of his policies!
He deserves a chance to EARN your respect would be correct.... I voted for him but alas he IS a politician and so few have earned my respect regardless of party.
