No they weren't. So called native Americans were Asians who lived on the Bering Land Bridge until sufficient ice melted to submerge it. That would be roughly 10,000 years ago. Somewhere this side of the peak of the Ice Age, 22,000 years ago, Europeans are known to have made their way to North America, traversing the Atlantic which was 400 feet shallower. DNA evidence shows that early European visitors and 'native' Americans commingled. The Europeans were likely here first.
