Is there any disease you won't defend on Islamic principle? Regarding the law, to discount the "honorable" father reduces the crime to one of "passion," in the 2nd degree. When in fact the crime, an "honor" killing, is premeditated in the 1st degree - which triggers murder with "special ['honorable'] circumstances."
In effect, dropping "honor killing" as the motive and religious justification reduces the crime to 15 years. Then he'll be released to "honor" kill his wife or granddaughter or a neighbor's bikini-clad teenager. If they ever catch the asshole, watch what happens.
