Once again, educrats have been forced to step in to prevent a British
schoolgirl from wearing a Christian purity ring.
A gift from her mother, 12-year-old Kioni Lansbury's ring signifies
her intention to refrain from sex until she's married. Still more
outrageous, these rings reference a passage from the Bible.
Wonders Kioni:
If people can wear head scarves, why can't I wear a ring?
It could be because Christians don't fly planes into buildings, blow
up buses, and go on homicidal rampages. Or it could be that the ring
is somehow dangerous, as alleged by the ironically named headteacher
Faith Jarrett:
It's not a case of being religious or anti-religious. We take the
view that it's potentially dangerous.
The open-minded Ms. Jarrett is willing to let Kioni bring the ring to
school, so long as she keeps it in her bag. If only the ring announced
her intentions to sleep around and then have an abortion, she could
wear it with pride.
