Terrorists are not freedom fighters, they are Criminals.. No matter what the political excuse, they rule by fear, of reprisal much the same way as the school yard bully. Generally they do not last against community pressure. If the world reacts from fear, they are encouraged. A good example of this is the extent to which al Qaeda ruled (in a negative way) most of the Bush administration's agenda, and to what end... they are still as powerful as they were in 2001. Certainly they did some awful things, but the point is they also got the US to do some silly things, and to betray the very values that made America great.
