Problem is you now have the kids indoctrinated that if dad goes for his belt they can sue him for cruelty and be sure to win. In fact there was a case in Britain where a French citizen was visiting in Scotland and he spanked his kid for misbehaving and they put him in jail for it. That was about 2 years ago.
