Jack, I respectfully disagree. What the Republican Party needs, is a house cleaning, and those who do not hold the Constitution dear, and those who have taken an oath to uphold that Constitution as a public servant and have failed to do so, should be booted from out Party.
President Obama's birth certificate is a great place to start. Every Republican should be entering legislation to force the issue. Instead, here in Florida, our soon to be ousted Republican Senator refused to raise the issue, and wrote to me and other Floridians stating as such. When it was obvious that he could not win his seat next year, (for this reason and a number of other non-conservative stances that he took over the course of the last five and a half years) Senator Martinez determined that running for a second term was futile. Kind of like Arlen Spector. During the last fifty years, the Republican Party has in general, been the political party of, and home to those Americans who believe in traditional values and core American beliefs. The Republican Party is not a "Big Tent" party; yet we encompass the majority of Americans. We must return to those tenets that made the Republican Party great; those tenets that most Americans identify with. First and foremost, is "Less Government; and Less Government Intrusion Into Each And Every American's Life". Yes, Jack, the economy is important, but government has no place in trying to manipulate our economy. The federal government's stewardship and insurance that there will always be a free market economy is all that is needed, and the last Administration lost focus and sight of this, when they allowed for the socialists to come up with and put into place the Community Reinvestment Act, which is the cause of our stagnant economy to date. Again, it is time for a house cleaning! With regard to the term, "Negro", until such time as the black leadership comes up with a term that they find suitable to refer to themselves, (I believe that the politically correct term this week is, "Pan African"; versus "African-American" or "Black"); then the term "Negro" works for me.
