The "Flat Tax" is a very bad idea. It is actually the least
"progressive" of all the tax schemes under consideration. The net
impact is to make the working poor even more dependent on the imperial
federal government. A far wiser approach is to implement the "Fair
Tax" which essentially eliminates all taxes on those below the poverty
level through the prebate concept. It makes the entire tax system
more transparent in that it makes it clear that it is "we the people"
that pay all taxes. It eliminates the cap[acity of the imperial
federal government ot pit American against American. It would reduce
the power and influence of all but the socially motivated PACs and get
them all focused on policy rather than financial gain. Most of all,
it would significantly reduce the financial advantages available to
politicians and should result in far less overall corruption.
