Studio, please read your financial history...  Subprime mortgage
lending was force onto the banks because Congress sought to "fix"
"relining"...  This was pushed by both parties from the 60's...   In
the 1990's Wall Street was flooded with cash from the outside world
("America safe investment")  and Clinton encouraged the derivative
markets...   Too much money chased after too few home so you had no
own, no income mortgage loans...  That the Congress forced the Banks
down the path of sub-prime loans IS regulation of some type...

The problem was not deregulation as such, but the wrong type of
regulation/deregulation mix in a global money market seeking
safety...  And  the Urban Myth RE does not go down in value...
