  Well, you know, I like comedy as much or more than anyone.
  I'm sure you've heard the old saying; "part of what makes comedy
  funny, is that there's some truth in it".
  But the other part of the equation is that part of what makes comedy
  funny is that it can be based in absurdity.
  And to me, it's funny, but at the same time, it's absurd.

  I feel sorry for those Americans that actually base their political
  beliefs on the absurdity part because it's just perpetuating ignorance
  and false hopes into reality.

  What hurt the country wasn't social programs...at least not in the way
  you think of them.
  What hurt the country was unchecked military spending, rabid paranoid
  patriotism, huge amounts of money being transferred out of the
  country, social engineering that is biased towards defense and
  security (which produce nothing of material value), and unregulated
  pay schemes to the richest of the rich.
  But leave it to Conservative Republicans to blame it all on the
  weakest Americans, because they don't believe the rich have enough or
  that there can ever be enough security for the rich.
