history. Federal CIO Vivek Kundra has directed federal agencies to
inventory their assets by April 30 and prepare a plan to reduce the
number of servers and data centers, with a focus on slashing energy costs

computing platforms customized for government use."

Given the experience of some of the govt agencies and their big IT
projects that went totally off the tracks, this will end up being a huge
mess unless someone in charge has the experience and the data to control
it. I for one do not see anyone on the horizon who has that experience
to keep this one going right. I shudder to think of what this whole
thing will cost and just what a disaster it will be.
