Hello Euwe! Actually, you are correct on this one. I stand corrected, and I apologize.
This message has been around for years, I see that Travis posted it on March 1, 2009, (I actually saved it!) and I cannot speak for the veracity of the truthfulness of Bud Gregg of State Farm Insurance. We do know however, that Barbara and Milquetoast Mikkelson were caught in some serious lies during the 2008 Election, all to the benefit of the Obama Campaign. Here by example, below, is one that I caught, dealing with the Community Reinvestment Act, Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson. Snopes just outright lied on this one: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Keith In Tampa <[email protected]> Date: Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 5:39 PM Subject: Re: [] Obama & Socialist-Elitists: Lets Play The Class Warfare Card! In the past, I have always found Snopes to be accurate, and a well run, very useful web site. Thus, my disappointment over this article, and a clear example of how partisan politics has affected news and reporting. Anyone who is concerned with this year's election must ask themselves, "Why the false, prevaricate cover-up, why the blatant attempt to mislead, why the lies?" Despite the outright denial by Snopes, the truth regarding the article that "*Everyman" * posted has some veracity. The Washington Post has reported that Franklin Raines, the former CEO of Fannie Mae, and the CEO who was caught "cooking the books" of Fannie Mae, who just paid $25 million in April 2008 to settle a case brought by federal authorities investigating his role in Fannie Mae's accounting problems, was in fact an advisor and connected to the Obama Campaign. The Washington Post reported that Raines has "taken calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters." Reporter Anita Huslin says Raines told her that during an in-person interview. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/15/AR2008071502827.html Steve, the Fact Check article fails to delve into, or touch upon the Washington Post articles that I have attached, above and below. Moreover, the Fact Check article does in fact admit to the connection between Senator Obama's campaign affiliation with Jim Johnson, and clarifies that Franklin Raines never denied that he consulted with the Obama campaign. The Fact Check article states that Franklin Raines disputes that he consulted with Senator Obama personally, which is clearly in conflict with what Franklin Raines was saying back in August of this year. I guess the question to Franklin Raines is; "Were you lying in August, or were you lying in September?" http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/19/_the_ad_obama_has.html There is no question that Jim Johnson was very much connected to the Obama Campaign, Johnson, a former executive at Lehman Brothers who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO, was hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search/Vetting Committee along with Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder, until Johnson resigned after it came to light his connection with the Fannie Mae scandal. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/06/obama-johnson.html I can find nothing to document Tim Howard's connection to the Obama campaign. =================== *On Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 9:54 PM, Grae Beard wrote: * Has ANY Democrat ever done ONE thing right EVER? The truth is, that a number of corrupt Democrat Party Senators and Congressmen have damn near ruined our Nation economically, and anyone who has looked into the "Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac/Community Reinvestment Act" scandal can come to no other conclusion. If the Republicans can be blamed, it is for not shouting loud enough and sounding the alarm bells where we all heard the message and understood what was going on. For those who are interested, here is a quick, no-nonsense "Reader's Digest Abridged" article that I have compiled, that shows what exactly transpired, and the documentation is quite eye opening. The documentation is irrefutable, nevertheless, many in the mainstream media do not seem to want to focus upon these facts prior to the presidential election: http://pressboxfantasyfootball.com/Democrats.Fannie.Freddie..pdf ==================== *On Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 9:35 AM, Mike McMichen wrote: * Don't put too much faith in snoops, they are bought off too, I see things there that they say were false and they are true, I heard him say them. In fact, the chart accurately shows that Senator Obama's campaign contributions are from individual Lobbyists! While Senator Obama and his campaign have taken only nominal amounts of money from PAC's or Lobbies directly, Senator Obama has no problem taking money from individual Lobbyists, by example from Fannie Mae, but also from agri-business, law firms (who represent the Lobbyists and are in fact Lobbyists); General Electric and others. * http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/industries.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00009638 * <http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00009638> By example, Senator Obama took over $126,000.00 from Fannie Mae, since 2005. Senator McCain has taken approximately $20,000.00 in twenty years. It matters none that the money came from an individual Lobbyist, or from the actual PAC, that is a ploy utilized by the dishonest liberal left, however if one wants to "play that game", Senator McCain took NO MONEY from the PAC Fanny Mae, NONE, NADA, ZILCH, as compared to Senator Obama taking in excess of $6,000.00, and another $120,000.00 from individual Fannie Mae Lobbyists. http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/09/update-fannie-mae-and-freddie.html -- Thanks for being part of "PoliticalForum" at Google Groups.
