This can explain why we are in the mess we face today. To make things worse, taxpayers are the ones who suffered the most under the Pelosi-Reid controlled Congress. Bloomberg.com<http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-22/no-congress-since-1960s-makes-most-laws-for-americans-as-111th.html> reports: However history judges the 535 men and women in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate the past two years, one thing is certain: The 111th Congress made more law affecting more Americans since the “Great Society” legislation of the 1960s. They also incurred the most debt of any other Congress in history as well. For the first time since President Theodore Roosevelt<http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Theodore%20Roosevelt&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1&partialfields=-wnnis:NOAVSYND&lr=-lang_ja>began the quest for a national health-care system more than 100 years ago, the Democrat-led House and Senate took the biggest step toward achieving that goal by *giving 32 million Americans access to insurance*. *Congress rewrote the rules for Wall Street *in the most comprehensive way since the Great Depression. It *spent more than $1.67 trillion to revive an economy *on the verge of a depression, including *tax cuts for most Americans*, *jobs for more than 3 million*, construction of roads and bridges and investment in alternative energy; *ended an almost two-decade ban against openly gay men and women serving in the military*, and is poised today to* ratify a nuclear arms reduction treaty with Russia.* A lot of bragging from Bloomberg and no mention that most of what the Democrats did was rejected by the American voters. The majority is against their takeover of the health care system. Their Wall Street reform does not cover Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae. Making Work Pay was a tax credit, not a tax cut (verified by the IRS tax tables). We have lost 8.1 million jobs since the Democrats took control in 2007. Military leaders are against repealing Bill Clinton's Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell policy and the START treaty puts America at a disadvantage when it comes to missile defense. For all of its ambitious achievement, the 111th Congress, which may adjourn this week, also *witnessed a voter-backlash driven by a 9.6-percent unemployment rate <http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=USURTOT:IND> that cost Democrats control of the House and diminished their Senate majority*. They 'created' 3 million jobs? How does unemployment double<http://www.miseryindex.us/URbymonth.asp> from 2007 to 2010 when you are "creating" jobs? “This is probably the most productive session of Congress since at least the ‘60s,” said Alan Brinkley<http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Alan%20Brinkley&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1&partialfields=-wnnis:NOAVSYND&lr=-lang_ja>, a historian at New York’s Columbia University. “It’s all the more impressive given how polarized the Congress has been.” Yes, Americans love how open, honest, transparent and ethical this 111th Congress was. The historic losses in November vouch for this. It also explain how this Congress had the lowest approval ratings in history. *As lawmakers wrap up the session, Wall Street firms such as Goldman Sachs Group Inc <http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=GS:US>., JPMorgan Chase & Co <http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=JPM:US>. and Citigroup Inc <http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=C:US>. are positioned to complete their best two years in revenue,*General Motors Co<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=GM:US>. has emerged from bankruptcy with more than $23 billion repaid to the U.S. Treasury, and American International Group Inc<http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=AIG:US>. was able to sell $2 billion of bonds in its first offering since the company’s 2008 bailout. Yes, the American taxpayers were forced to bailout these groups that caused the financial crisis and they profitted while Americans suffer from this 'recovering' economy that has higher unemployment rates and records in bankruptcies, foreclosures, poverty and the number of Americans on food stamps. All this 'accomplishment' is brought to you by the 111th Congress. RIP 2007-2011.
