By no means do I persecute Gays. Just the opposite, I am one of the Class's biggest defenders against civil (and criminal) discrimination!
But we cannot have a society where one group or class of peoples have "more" rights than the rest of us. I believe, (I think as you do) that a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, should be able to have the same civil privileges as a man and a woman do, who choose to marry. All individuals who go and obtain what is currently called, "A Marriage License" are in truth and fact receiving a civil union license. It was a misnomer to ever call it a "Marriage License" because it's not really a marriage. The reason it was never challenged, was because it was never an issue up until the last ten years.....Thirty years ago, homosexuality was still classified as a mental disease/deficiency..... Having said that, I could make a strong argument, that any governmental entity who issues a "Marriage License" is in fact violating the 1st Amendment......Marriage is a religious function, distinctive from a civil union.
