Anya barely managed not to choke and ended up making a sound that was close
and a cross between surprise and clearing one's throat as she asked "That's
impossible. The dark haired woman, I had heard.. died."

And there certainly wasn't anything in Nick Boyle's file about a fiancé -
not that it made much difference. Ring wasn't on him just yet-- she stopped
that thought there, expression in place.

But she was sure she had heard and read in a file that Julia Walker had died
in Ireland....

Alex didn't really want to get into a long explaination of what had
happened. Especially not on the heals of everything that went on with
Mitchell. "Reports of her demise were greatly exaggerated," she said
simply. "You can always check with London if you don't want to take my word
for it." Alex didn't really like this woman. Perhaps, they just started
off on the wrong foot, but something about her just rubbed Alex the wrong
way. Alex poured a cup of coffee for Anya and handed it to her, indicating
where she could find the cream and sugar.
