Alex and Derek arrived at the church and Alex went on a frantic search for
her best friend. Doing her best to keep out of Kat's sight. She found her
alone and was relieved. "Hey you...you weren't planning to go off and get
married without spending a few last minutes your best friend were you?"

Alex came in and pulled a small box out of her purse, which she pressed into
Julia's hand. "I tried to keep to the traditions, but no borrowing it's
yours. If you need to borrow something I'll dig something up." Inside the
box was and elegant new chain with a very old pendant containing a pattern
of blue topaz stones. It had been in her family for a long time. It was
also a piece Julia had admired a lot, though the last time she'd seen it,
the thing was on an old fragile chain, that had since given up the ghost.

Julia turned at Alex's tease and hugged her close before Alex pressed the
box into her hand. She looked at her friend curiously before opening it,
only to cover her mouth as she gasped softly "Oh, Alex.. I.. " She looked
at her best friend and wiped her eyes. She remembered the piece and had to
swallow around an emotional lump in her throat before holding it out for
Alex to help put it around her neck.

"I can't believe this is.. oh god Alex it's really happening." she
whispered, almost tempted to jump up and down with Alex but shaking so bad
she wasn't sure if she'd break her heel or not or just break down and cry
like a baby and show up at the ceremony looking like Rudolf.

"Thank goodness for waterproof mascara, huh?" she half chuckle/half sniff as
she turned so Alex could fasten the chain around her neck "And you look hot.
Did Derek have to pull up his tongue after seeing you?"
