"My wife" he repeated. He held up his hand and showed her the ring.
 
 
Not good, she thought but kept her expression mildly curious "Oh? Who?"
 
Of course she knew who it was.  Or rather, who the person was claiming to be.  But she didn't hold much stock in it being the truth or that this thing he was in was a real marriage.  Real marriages didn't happen with dead people.  But her expression never flickered from curiosity so her thoughts were unknown to anyone but her.
