Alex carried Alyssa into the house and up to Derek's study. She figured it
would be one of the better places for her right now. It wasn't high traffic
and there was a television there, if she wanted to watch it. She set the
little girl down on the couch. "Why don't you lie down here. I'll go get
you a pillow and your bunny and something for your headache. All right?"

"Yes," Alyssa said foggily. Alex helped her get comfortable and then turned
the television on the Disney Channel, the volume low so as not to hurt her
ears, which might be sensative. "I'll be right back." Alex headed to her
room where they had left Ginny and she retrieved a pillow from her bed as
well, then went in search of children's Tylenol, a glass of juice and
hopefully Derek on the way. Some about all of this really bothered her, but
she couldnt' put a finger on it.

Back in Derek's office Alyssa lay perfectly still her eyes closed. Images
flashed before her in the dark, but vanished almost as soon as they appeared
and barely registered in her brain at all. In fact, consciously she never
saw the dark images at all. Not even the fact that Alex was in those little
flashes. The only thing she knew as that her head was pounding more and
more each second. She sniffled slightly as a few tears escaped her eyes.
"mama....."
