She tried for a smile when his hands had gone over her neck to check it out.  Nothing 
was seriously wrong - everything was still in its place - but damned if the bruising 
didn't hurt.

But at this rate, and with everything hitting at once and needed to be done, she kept 
it to herself.

That was, until he gave her a relieved hug.  Without meaning to, when his hands and 
arms had touched her back, she hissed in pain and stiffened, the pieces of bark and 
wood cutting into her skin having in advertantly been pushed in by his hold.
