"Look, Alex," Julia used a tone of voice that would both cut through her
best friend's near panic attack and make her know that she was intently
serious "The Soulchaser is staying. He is the only one that can take on the
Hunter. And I've already had a meeting with the creep and had one of our
trees practically buried in my back. You of all people should know I'd
never put Nick of all people in danger. If I weren't 110% sure the
Soulchaser would keep his end of the bargain he sure as hell wouldn't be in
here. It's either him or the Hunter, take your pick."

She got off of the desk but without her usual 'hop' but not intentionally.
It just hurt too much to move too fast.

"Turn around." Rachel said, already lifting her shirt to take a peek.

Julia sighed and turned. Not like they could see anything. Nick had
already patched her up. Well, not until Rachel took out a small pair of
surgical sissors and cut a small piece away.

She didn't miss the small sound Rachel made either "Could you retape that
please? As you can see, already put medicine on it and it's as good as it
can get until it heals."

"Well," Rachel commented, doing as requested "One thing neither you nor Nick
will lack is someone to patch you up after run ins with the bad guys."

Julia chuckled a little at that, remembering Nick's comments about 'nurses'
and 'nursing each other'.

"Oooh," Rachel teased her, sensing a need to add some kind of humor to the
tension there now "Do I detect the possibility that someone's already played
doctor?"

She finished and Julia half swatted her as she turned, pulling her shirt
back down "None of your business."

Both Rachel and Julia looked at Alex and Derek stopped to look at the three
women, gaze quietly quizzical.

Alex managed a wry smile at her friend, but she didn't feel a bit like
smiling. The news she had just heard was horrible and here Julia was
expecting her of all people to trust the soulchaser! Had she not been so
stunned she might have had a few words with her friend. But she was
stunned. She glanced at derek's curious look and almost said taht she would
explain it ot him later, but just of though made color come to her cheeks.
If he really hadn't know what they were talking about he surely did now.
She looked away.

Alex
