Rachel had left the control room but not before she had
gotten paged, so she went to the phone and called the number that had been
displayed.
Moments later she was entering the television room and
greeting Nick and Kat "Hey you two." She nodded once at Anya who looked
more than just a little out of place there.
"Nick you mind looking after Kat? An emergency came up at
the hospital. One of my patients is having a.. rough time."
She leaned on the back of the couch and ruffled her
daughter's hair with a playful wink, then did the same to Nick without the wink
and laughed at his reaction.
"All right, all right.. off the hair." he mock grumbled
then started messing with Kat's hair in the same way "Sure, we'd love to stick
with kiddo here for a while longer."
Then he looked at Anya, answering her question of a moment
ago "Yeah, a little family something we're starting."
Then he looked at Kat and said thoughtfully "Maybe we
should set something up in one of the gatehouses to do this so we're not
inviting the world's population."
Rachel thought 'meow' and looked at Anya who was quickly
covering up her expression and then back at Nick, nudging him in the shoulder
and standing "Thanks, I appreciate it."
Then she looked at her daughter "How about we have pizza
tonight at home?"
