Soulchaser looked around the chamber. It had been a while since the last time he had
been present at one of these trials. The layout was pretty much the same as he
remembered it though.

At the head of the courtroom was the bench with three chairs behind it nthat would be
occupied by the furies. There were two tables in front of him. One where the defense
would sit, and one for the prosecution. between the two was the stand where one had
to go to adress the furies. When he looked at the prosecuter's table, Soulchaser's
eyes flashed in annoyance as he saw who was sitting there waiting for him.

"Moncrieff," Soulchaser muttered. "I could have handled this one myself. Why did
thay have to send you?"

Moncrieff was one of the top lawyers in hell. That was quite an accolade considering
how many lawyers were down there. As usual, he had assumed the form of a thin, oily
englishman.

"My, aren't we confident, S.C." Moncrieff said, using Soulchasers initials because he
knew it pissed him off. "Especially since you've lost, not one, but two souls today.
The Boss just thought you could use a little assistance."

Soulchaser reached over and grabbed Moncrieff's red necktie, wasting to adjust the
narrow end about eight inches. "He's not my boss, you little toad!" sneered the
guardian of damned souls. and I don't need any help from the likes of you."

"Well you don't have much of a choice right now," Moncrieff said seriously. "Noone
can leave the courtroom unless the furies excuse them, so I'm here to the end. Now if
you'll get your filthy hands off of me, we'll review our arguments."

soulchaser looked at the greasy attourney and released his grip on a tie and sat down
next to him.

"No funny stuff this time," Soulchaser warned him.
