Hi everyone,
For those of you who added IPv6 addresses to the production pool:
How much IPv6 traffic do you see to your servers now compared to the IPv4
traffic?
These results are based on a 1-hour sample captured with tcpdump:
tursas.miuku.net / tursas-v6.miuku.net (100Mbit, Finland):
-71343 NTP packets received, of which 194 were over IPv6, so IPv6
accounted for 0.27% of the requests.
-There were requests from 8583 hosts, of which 19 were from IPv6 hosts
(0.22%).
villisika.miuku.net / villisika-v6.miuku.net (3Mbit, France):
-1524 NTP packets received, of which 25 were over IPv6, so IPv6
accounted for 1.64% of the requests.
-There were requests from 214 hosts, of which 6 were from IPv6 hosts
(2.80%).
I suppose the percentages will go up over time (as NTP clients tend to
keep polling the same server until rebooted), and also when IPv6
addresses start being included in the {,{0,1,3}.}pool.ntp.org zones as well.
