Dear Ask, I wonder if it is a reasonable idea to ask a subdomain under hu.pool.ntp.org. I'm working at NIIF Institute, the Hungarian Academic network provider. I manage 20% of hu.pool servers. However if I restart a client I often get "strange" servers only from the pool.
I'd prefer if hosts on the academic network (HBONE) could choose a subset of hu.pool especially the servers on HBONE. We have really fine connectivity inside (10-20 Gbps backbone). I think using "near" NTP servers with low delay and jitter would increase stability of client clocks. Is it possible to set up a hbone.hu.pool.ntp.org subdomain at you that provides also random A (and AAAA) records but from the set of our servers only?
