Can something be done about this?

I think the monitoring is "right" to disable your server. It's
not your fault that it is unreachable, and it may not be equally
unreachable from all parts of the net, and you may not be able to
do anything about this. But still, unreachability from *some* parts
of the net should already be sufficient reason to remove the server
from the pool.

The monitoring system currently supports distributed monitoring,
which isn't really employed at this time. But even if it was, I
believe the plan would be to be more conservative then, i.e. remove
hosts if some of the monitors think the server is unreachable, unless
those monitors think the same of many servers (which would indicate
a general problem with the monitor).

If you really want to do something about this, you need to find
out where the connectivity problems originate from. There are various
looking glass applications that provide you with visibility data for
your system from different parts of the net. If some looking glasses
show problems, you need to contact the operators of the networks
involved and ask that they fix their connectivity. This is probably
a multi-months project.

Regards,
Martin
