Zitat von IT2GO <[email protected]>:

Dear,

At the moment I run about 15 NTP servers around the world. 12 of them are hosted on a XEN vps'es, 3 on dedicated servers. Some time ago, someone told me that it isn't allowed to run NTP on a VPS. Is this true or not? May i continue to set up NTP servers on my VPS'es or only on dedicated servers?

PS : all my vps'es runs on a XEN node, with openVZ virtualisation it isn't possible to start a NTP server.

With openvz you need to set a special capability for the container so it is able to set the HW clock: http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&goto=42142&; After this setting there is no difference between a dedicated server and the VPS container regarding time keeping.

Regards

Andreas
