I do not know how it will work in your environment, I can only contribute my experience with the two Gude Expert mouseCLOCK extrem [1] I have in use. They are located inside (even if they could be used outside) behind a window (with a light reflective metal coating on the outside) which is facing north. I am located in Zürich, Switzlerand, around 400 km south of Frankfurt (where the sender is). During a thunderstorm or heavy rain they do not receive the complete DCF77 signal and my ntpd is logging stuff like in the attachment ntpd-thunderstorm.txt.

I do not know, how good the reception will be, if you are behind a wall. But this does probably depend on the material of the wall.
