Hi
RS232 connection from my Sure Board is around 55 ft. Currently
the Sure has a local power supply but that will be replaced by
power through the rs232 cable.
I wired up my own cables.
+DCD (1) D9P-A0/B0-1_PPS_in WHITE/blue
(6) 0V D9P-A0/B0-6_0V BLUE/white
+TxD (2) D9P-A0/B0-2_TxD_in WHITE/orange
(7) 0V D9P-A0/B0-7_0V ORANGE/white
+RxD (3) D9P-A0/B0-3_RxD_out WHITE/green
(8) 0V D9P-A0/B0-8_0V GREEN/white
+Ve(~9V) (4) D9P-A0/B0-4_+Ve(~9V) WHITE/brown
(9) -Ve(~0V) D9P-A0/B0-9_-Ve(~0V) BROWN/white
0V (5) D9P-A0/B0-5_0V
0V = BLUE/white, ORANGE/white,
I used cheap 8-core telephone cable. There will be a 5V
regulator in the interface to the Sure board.
The performance was not great, rms ntp offset below 3 usec,
mean offset 0 usec, that despite a deviation of about 30 usec
each night during log rotations etc, and larger offsets with
significant changes in temperature. A remote stable system
clock source is needed.
